Why does my Litter-Robot say the drawer is full when it is not? ›

Check for obstructions blocking the drawer full indicator (DFI) sensors. There are two sensors inside the base, above where the waste drawer would sit. Debris, such as dust or cat fur, can interfere with the DFI sensor. This can cause the unit to inaccurately trigger a drawer-full indication.

Before you check the waste drawer level on the app to ensure it's accurately representing the level in the waste drawer, press the Reset button, then press the Cycle button to start a Clean cycle. Check your app to ensure that the waste drawer level displayed is accurate.

Cleaning the sensors

With the globe, bonnet, and drawer removed, lean the unit backward so that you can look into the holes on the bezel to see each sensor. Using a clean, dry cotton swab, carefully clean the surface of each sensor to remove any dust.

There are 3 laser sensors located in the top of the bezel, called Curtain Sensors, as well as a cat sensor weight scale located in the base of the unit.

For one average-sized cat, you'll need to empty the waste drawer about once per week, and for two cats, twice every 7-10 days is typical. To change the drawer liner in Litter-Robot 3 (with or without Connect), simply pull out the drawer, unhook the edges of the liner, and dispose.

To reconnect your unit, re-enable the connection by pressing the Connect button once to turn the WIFI off, indicated by a white Connect LED. Then, press the Connect button a 2nd time to reestablish the connection. The Connect LED will begin flashing blue again but should change to solid blue after a few seconds.

Cleaning your Litter-Robot

Cleaning or soaking the globe thoroughly every 3 months will help prevent any excess weight from accumulating within the globe. Never submerge, spray, or soak the base or control panel as they contain sensors and electronics.

Litter-Robot is equipped with anti-pinch sensors on both sides of the waste drawer chute to ensure your cat's safety while in use. These sensors monitor for potential pinch conditions at all times. If your unit displays a green and white alternating light bar, this indicates an anti-pinch fault during power up.

Wipe the bezel area where the sensors are located with a dry clean cloth to remove debris such as hair or dust. Vacuum the inside perimeter of the bezel with a brush attachment, passing over the holes at the top of the bezel where the curtain sensors are located. You may need to clean the sensors with a cotton swab.

When should I reset my Litter-Robot? ›

IMPORTANT: Any time you do anything that affects the weight or placement of the unit, including adding or removing litter, emptying the waste drawer, or moving or cleaning the unit, press the Reset button once you are done.

Remote Control

The remote also allows you to reset the gauge when you empty the unit, helping the app learn your emptying behaviors to better tailor our gauge to match your needs.

Press and hold, while at the home position, to enter sleep mode. Press and release the Empty button to start an empty cycle (empties all litter into the waste drawer).
