Sky Stream is the simplest and most flexible satellite-dish-free Sky service in the UK – so we're not surprised to find you here, thinking about whether it's right for you.
Sky's streaming service product is similar to its own-brand TV Sky Glass which gives customers the option to access all their channels over Wi-Fi. Sky Stream has one key difference: it doesn't require you to purchase an integrated TV set. There's just a small, convenient streaming box to connect to your telly.
Sky Stream comes with various bundles – including entertainment, sports and cinema packages, depending on which subscription options you choose. So, you can tailor the service to your budget and viewing preferences. We'll explain these offers a little further down the page.

Sky Stream new customer deals July 2024 – Is there a free trial?
Here's how things are looking price-wise for Sky Stream's base Sky Entertainment & Netflix package, plus various add-ons. Some offers are running at the moment, and our last price check was conducted on Wednesday, July 3.
While there isn't a regular Sky Stream free trial as such, you can save on the monthly price at the moment.
• Sky Entertainment & Netflix Standard with Ads £22/month (usually £28/month) on a 24-month contract, or £25/month for 24 months (usually £31/month) on a 31-day rolling contract.
This is Sky Stream's base package and you will need to subscribe to it to add the other channel packages shown below. It features 17 of Sky's own channels, including Sky Atlantic and Sky Max, plus a comprehensive range of terrestrial channels.
• Netflix upgrade: £6/month for Netflix Standard, or £11/month for Netflix Premium.
Netflix Standard with Ads gives you access to watch on two screens and download to two devices (up to 15 downloads per device, per billing cycle). It features 1080p Full HD definition, which is an improvement on the 720p offered with forerunner product Netflix Basic.
Netflix Standard also gives you access to watch and download on two supported devices in 1080p Full HD. For £4.99 per month, you also have the option to add one extra member to your account who doesn't live with you.
Netflix Premium is a UHD service with spatial audio, allowing you to watch on up to four supported devices at once and download to six supported devices. For £4.99 per person per month, you can add up to two members to your account who don't live with you.
• Sky Sports is on offer at £20/month (usually £28/month) on a 24-month contract, or £27/month for 24 months (usually £30/month) on a 31-day rolling contract

Sky Sports' coverage includes live Premier League, EFL Championship and Women's Super League football matches, Formula 1 and IndyCar racing, German Bundesliga football, NFL games, top-level cricket, basketball, netball and rugby league, Premier League Darts and much much more.
It launched a tennis channel earlier this year which carries major tournaments including the US Open, and from August, it's expanding its coverage with the new Sky Sports+ channel and streaming services "at no extra cost" to Sky Sports subscribers.
To get the promotional pricing for Sky Sports on a 24-month term, Sky's terms say you'll need to "keep both packs for 24 months to continue to get this offer" – so you'll need to retain the basic Sky Stream package for that length of time, too.
• Sky Cinema is on offer at £10/month (usually £13/month) on a 24-month contract, or £13/month for 24 months (usually £16/month) on a 31-day rolling contract
Sky Cinema gives you access to some of the latest and greatest movies streamable anywhere. July's premieres will include Anyone But You, the Mean Girls musical movie and The Nun II. Until September 30, you'll also get two free Vue cinema tickets per month and Paramount+ at no extra cost with your Sky Cinema membership.
• Sky Kids is on offer at £6/month for 24 months (usually £7/month) on a 31-day rolling contract
• TNT Sports is on offer at £28/month for 24 months (usually £30/month) on a 31-day rolling contract
TNT Sports hosts coverage of selected Premier League matches plus Serie A, and exclusive UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League football games. From the 2024/25 season, it will share the rights to the UEFA Champions League with Amazon's Prime Video service.
It's also home to Formula E and MotoGP racing, NBA basketball (including the NBA Finals), top-level baseball tournaments, Premiership Rugby, plus WWE and UFC. TNT Sports customers can also access Eurosport's coverage of the French Open, Australian Open, Le Mans and more.
Note that the discounted pricing on TNT Sports and Sky Kids is available for up to 24 months, according to Sky's website. However, be aware that the small print for the TNT Sports offer notes that if you cancel during that 24-month period, you won't be able to take up the discounted pricing again.
It also adds: "New 24-months minimum terms for your Sky TV subscription required," which may affect your plans if you were thinking of a 31-day rolling agreement for your base Sky TV and Netflix package.
The service dropped to its lowest price to date as part of Sky's Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale in November 2023, with subscriptions starting from £19 on that occasion.
Is Sky Stream right for me?
Essentially, Sky Stream gives its customers a way to watch Sky TV without a satellite dish.
It's very similar to Sky Glass, but you don't need to purchase the full TV set to get it – just a small box that can be plugged into the back of your television and connects to your home WiFi, so a simple setup process that shouldn't require an engineer's visit.
If you're happy with your TV hardware and you're specifically looking to subscribe to Sky channels or services, then Sky Stream is something to consider.
Customers have the option of 24-month contracts or 31-day rolling contracts for most services (for the latter, you'll need to give 31 days' notice to cancel or change services).
Shop for Sky Stream packages
Pros
- No satellite dish required
- Choice of 24-month or 31-day contracts
- Quick setup
Cons
- Internet connection required to watch content
- No Sky Q-style series record
- Prices are not fixed for a contract term
There are some disadvantages – if you don't have great broadband, this may not be the service for you. While the Sky Glass TV sets contain a digital tuner as a backup if your connection goes down, you will need a broadband connection to watch with Sky Stream.
The minimum broadband speed recommended for Sky Stream is now 25Mbps. It works with any provider, so Sky Broadband isn't a requirement. If you opt for the UHD and Dolby Atmos package or Whole Home add-on, the recommended minimum broadband speed is 30Mbps.
One very important note: Sky Stream pricing is not fixed, as noted during the checkout process, which states that "prices may change during this period" regardless of whether you sign up for a 31-day or 24-month agreement. Prices rose, even for mid-contract customers, on April 1, 2024.
Sky's full terms for its streaming packages are here if you're interested in further details on how it communicates price changes to customers.
Sky Stream vs Sky Q
One key difference between the Sky Stream box and Sky Q is that it doesn't have space to store programme recordings. Instead, you can add content to playlists, as you would be able to on many streaming services, and have the option to restart live TV as well.
In the absence of a satellite dish, content comes to your screen over WiFi, as with Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and the rest.
The box comes with a voice remote and opens up the Sky Glass user interface — which, as is often highlighted in TV ads for that product, brings all your streaming services and apps together on one screen.
Sky Stream add-ons pricing explained
At the time of writing, extras not already listed above are priced as follows, with some differences based on whether you have chosen a 31-day rolling contract or a 24-month contract:
• Whole Home Pack: Get up to five additional Sky Stream Pucks for £13/month per new device (31-day rolling contract). These are currently on offer for £12/month per new device.
Each new box has a setup fee as outlined above – although, on occasion, Sky may offer customers their first additional device for free.
• UHD and Dolby Atmos: Priced at £6/month (31-day rolling contract), this add-on works only with Sky Entertainment, Cinema and Sports content and you'll need a compatible TV set and audio hardware.
• Ad-Skipping: £5/month (31-day rolling plan)
Sky Stream setup fees are priced at £39.95. However, at the time of writing, Sky is offering free setup at checkout.
Unlike with Sky Q, an engineer shouldn't need to visit your home for an installation, as the Sky Stream service is delivered via broadband. All you should need to do is plug in the device and connect it to your TV.
